Obituary

Christopher T. Peters

Christopher Thomas Peters, age 38 of Canton, OH, went home to be with the Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on December 29th, 2022. Born on April 3, 1984, and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Chris was a Christ-follower, husband, father, son, brother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Monica and three sons Max, Mason, and Elliott of Canton, OH, his parents Bill and Pamela Peters of Columbus, OH, his brother Brian Peters of Cleveland, OH, his in-laws, Brent and Nancy Bircher, his grandmother-in-law, Eileen Jones, and many close aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chris loved Jesus and worked hard to become the man God wanted him to be. He was absolutely hilarious, authentic, loyal, and had a fierce devotion and love for his family. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church where he served on the worship team and had many close friends. Chris previously worked at Hartville Hardware and considered his coworkers there to be family. Most recently he was employed at Holmes Seed in Canton, OH and truly enjoyed the career God had given him as well as daily talks with his boss at the end of the day. He enjoyed music, grilling on his Traeger, Ohio sports teams, ice cream, Charmin toilet paper, talking politics, flannel shirts, hoodies, hats, and making phone calls instead of texts.

Chris loved people and loved being around others. His favorite relational pursuits included teasing and laughing with his cousins, hosting people in his home- especially his life group and wife's bible study, bonfires with friends, dinners with his monthly friend group, trips to baseball games and Zanesville with buddies, porch talks with dear friends at Lakeside, and hanging at the bus stop with the best neighbors in the world.

He loved watching his boys play sports and was extremely proud of them. His wife and boys will miss watching tv and sports with him at night before bed (chicken wing!) and his boys will miss their morning drives to school together where they talked about guy stuff.

In recent days, his family has loved hearing the stories of how Chris reached out and cared for everyone he knew. He was a hard worker with a servant's heart. He loved making people laugh and left everyone with a smile on their face.

His loss will be deeply felt for many years to come, but we are thankful for the hope of heaven and the promise of seeing him again.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sat. at 12 Noon in First Christian Church in Canton with Pastor Shawn Maurer and Pastor Dan Stoffer officiating.  Private interment in North Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday from 5-8 pm in the church.  The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
