OBITUARY FOR FRIDAY REPOSITORY WITH PICTURE: Christine M. Strebel Age 61, of Canton, was ushered into Heaven in the arms of Jesus, on Wed., March 14, 2012, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Clarence and Jessie (Oberlin) Green, and step-mother, Marilynn (Schweitzer) Green, and was a life resident. Chris was a 1968 graduate of Lehman High School. She worked at Ohio Bell from 1969 to 1974, where she was an operator and supervisor. She and Ellie Roth bought Babyland in 1977 and have operated it since then. Chris was a member of First Friends Church where she enjoyed teaching a Sunday school class. She was involved in founding the Pregnancy Support Center of Stark County, and served on the Board as well as in other capacities. Chris went on a Mission trip in May of 2011 to the Dominican Republic where she worked with widows. Survived by her husband, Scott A. Strebel, with whom she would have celebrated their 41st Wedding Anniversary on March 20th; three daughters, Andrea Wilson, Amber and Patricia Strebel, all of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Neysa Strebel, of Homeworth, OH; six grandchildren, Zachery and Courtnie Wilson, Tevin Strebel, Ayanni Martin, Chase and Kaylie Strebel; three sisters and brothers-in-law, her twin Cathy and Jim Harold, of Marietta, GA, Carol and Bruce Williams, of Massillon, and Liane and Kevin Harold, of North Canton. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in First Friends Church, 5455 Market Ave. North, with Pastor Stan Hinshaw officiating. Friends may call Sunday 5-8 p.m. at the church and Monday 10-11 a.m. before the service.
