Charles A. Rodock
Age 89, of Canton died peacefully on Sat., Sept. 1, 2012 in Aultman Hospital MICU after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Born on Sept. 20, 1922, in Nellie, Ohio to the late Celsus and Ruth (Darr) Rodock. Charles was a 1940 graduate of Warsaw, Ohio High School. He came to Canton in 1941 to work for the Timken Company and then went to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1985 after more than 40 years' of service at the Timken Company where he was a grinder in the Bearing Factory, and was a member of the AFL & CIO Local #1123. Since 1948, he belonged to the Dueber United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Canton Lodge No. 60 F. & A.M. and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. Charles was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being on the lakes of Ohio and Canada and was a member of the Goodyear Hunting and Fishing Club of Akron. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathryn (Jones) Rodock, with whom he would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 7, 2012; a daughter, Deborah Rodock Maiese, and a son-in-law, Dr. Philip M. Maiese, of Arlington, Virginia. He was preceded in death by three siblings and their spouses, William and Kathryn Rodock, Robert and Ruth Rodock, and Mary Jane Newton.
Services will be held Wed. at 2:00 p.m.in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Calling hours will begin at 1:00 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 1:45 p.m. Wed. Entombment will be in the North Lawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at the American Lung Association or to the Deuber United Methodist Church.
