Charles E. "Pete" Gross
Age 78, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday afternoon in his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Mineral City, a son of the late James and Jennie Westbrook Gross, and had been a Magnolia resident since 1962. Pete retired in 1991 from Whitacre Engineering in Canton where he was an ironworker. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting and gardening. Pete served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Gross, Jr., and a brother, Jim Gross. Survived by his wife, Lenora M. (Giles) Gross, with whom he would have celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 31st; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ed Glennon, and Sheryl and Scott Nicholson, all of Magnolia; a son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Mark and Michelle Gross, of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Tabitha Nicholson and Brittany Glennon, both of Cuyahoga Falls, Luke Nicholson, of Magnolia, and Jordan Gross, of New York City; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Art Watson, of Mineral City; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Set Gross, of New Cumberland. Honoring his wishes, Pete will be cremated and there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Graveside Service in German Cemetery will be held at a later date. The Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of arrangements.
