Charles Elkins, Sr.
Age 86, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. He was born Feb. 24, 1937 in Elkhorn, KY, a son of the late Carl and Ferbie (Swiney) Elkins, and had resided in Waynesburg since 1955. Charles retired in 1988 from Beaver Excavating, after 16 years' service, where he was a pipe layer. He previously worked as a coal miner. Charles was a member of Waynesburg Freewill Baptist Church and Laborer's Local #1015 in Canton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two great-grand-sons, four granddaughters, one sister and four brothers. Charles is survived by his wife, Nancy Elkins, with whom he celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on June 15th last year; six sons and one daughter, Charles (Sandy) Elkins, Jr., Ricky (Janine) Elkins, Glen (Sherrie) Elkins, Gerald (Cindy) Elkins, Clarence (Molly) Elkins, Jeffrey (Katherine) Elkins, and Audrey (Barry) Hunn; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor David Powell officiating. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles memory may be made to the Waynesburg Freewill Baptist Church.
