Carolyn J. Murphy

Age 75, of East Sparta, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023.  She was born April 22, 1948 in Bethesda, OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Ames) Carpenter, and had been an East Sparta resident 53 years.  Carolyn was a 1966 graduate of Union Local High School.  She was a former employee of the Multi-County Detention Center, where she was a Youth Leader.  She also had worked at McDade's Market in East Sparta.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill R. Thomas, four sisters and three brothers.  Carolyn is survived by her husband, David D. Murphy, with whom she celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on April 8th; her daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Forester; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Christopher (Britt) Wiersteiner, and children, Harper and Cameron, Nicole Wiersteiner, and her son, Jameson, Kyle Huston, and Kayleigh Forester; and her Goddaughter, Devonne Muldowney.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Brett Hughes officiating.  Friends may call Monday 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in Ebeneezer Cemetery in Bethesda, OH.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
