Caroline A. Kinney

Age 97, of Canton and formerly of East Sparta, passed away Tuesday evening in Green Meadows Health Center.  She was born in Piedmont, OH, a daughter of the late Dempsey and Oda Mae (Young) Persons, resided in Canton since 1991, previously residing in East Sparta over 40 years.  She retired in 1991 from the U. S. Post Office in East Sparta, after 23 years service, where she was custodian.  Caroline was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church, the Auxiliary of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta, Mayfield Senior Center, Mayfield Volunteer Club, and the National Council of Senior Citizens.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Charles H. Kinney, on March 15, 1982, and six brothers and three sisters.  Survived by several nieces and nephews, including  Pamela Miller, of Canton, who was her primary caregiver.  Services will be held Sat. at 1 p.m. in East Sparta United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating.  Interment in East Sparta Cemetery.  Friends may call Sat. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before services at the church.  The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Green Meadows for the love and care they gave to Caroline.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to East Sparta United Methodist Church, PO Box 445, East Sparta, OH 44626.  Condolences may be sent to:www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
