Carol A. Swiney

Age 81, of Canton, passed away Friday, Oct.13, 2017.  She was born in Massillon, a daughter of the Russell and Dorothy (Bricker) Woods, resided in Canton most of her life, and also a number of years in Portage County.  Carol was a graduate of Massillon Washington High School, and had been a Nurses' Aide at Massillon State Hospital.  She was a member of Sandy valley Church of God where she played the organ.  Carol also enjoyed playing games on the computer and doing crafts.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Clardia Swiney, on March 29, 2011, and a sister and brother, Janice Hoffner and Dale Woods.  Carol is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Ed) Casseday, three sons, Dale (Lisa) Green, Kevin (Edith) Green, and Ricky Swiney; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Diane (George) Thayer; and many nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Monday at 6 p.m. in Sandy Valley Church of God with Pastor Clifford Hughes officiating.  Friends may call Monday at the church from 4-6 p.m. before the service.  Interment will be in Rest Land Cemetery in Brimfield on Tuesday at 11 a.m.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Crossroads Hospice for the love and care they gave to Carol.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
