Carol L. Horton

Age 83, of Canton, passed away Tues., Feb. 6, 2024.  She was born Aug. 7, 1940, in Salem, OH, a daughter of the late Dr. Carl and Caroline (Martin) Lehwald.  Carol attended Church of the Lakes, and retired from Plain Local Schools, having worked as a Teacher in Avondale School.  Following her retirement, she worked as a Caregiver for Comfort Keepers.  Preceded in death by her special friend, Pat Kress.  Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Caroline (James) Kast; one son, Cris Horton; one sister and brother-in-law, Karen (William) Carter; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. James (Sue) Lehwald; four grandchildren, Carl (Jaimie) Blaine, KrisAnne (Josh) Lawson, Jimmy (Stacy) Kast, Cara Kast and her fiancé, Tim Rooney; four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Sat., Feb. 10, at 12 noon in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home in Canton, with Gordon Ferguson officiating.  Interment in Grandview Cemetery in Salem.  Friends may call one hour before the service, from 11 am to 12 noon, in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol's name may be made to: the Stark County Humane Society, 5100 Peach St NE, Louisville, OH 44641.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
