Carol A. Burkhart

Age 81, of East Sparta, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023.  She was born March 7, 1941 in Strasburg, OH, a daughter of the late Emmett and Myrtle (McMannus) Reiger, Sr., and resided in the East Sparta area most of her life.  Carol was a 1959 graduate of Dover High School. She was an over 50 year member of Howenstine Christian Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed baking and gardening, was a proud grandmother, but most of all she loved taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, Rachel Harbold, Emmett Reiger, Jr., and Jerald Reiger. Carol is survived by her husband, Robert L. Burkhart, with whom she celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on April 6th, two sons, Mike Burkhart (Michelle Aukamp) and Mark (Maureen) Burkhart, one granddaughter, Madelyn Burkhart, and one brother, Dale Reiger.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sat., Feb.11, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. in Howenstine Christian Church with Chris Davis officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Helping Hands Network, 126 S.
