Carol L. Baker
age 78, of Canton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022. She was born Sept. 30, 1944 in Canton, a daughter of the late Louis J. Eberhart and Alberta M. (Johnson) Jackson, and was a life resident. She was a 1962 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and KPMG School of Internal Auditing. Carol started with Citizens Savings in 1970, became Internal Auditor of their CIVISTA Corporation, then merging with FirstMerit, becoming Vice President/Mortgage System Liason-BA II, retiring in 2017. She was a life time member of the McKinley Band Parents Association, McKinley Adult Booster Club, and the Timken High School Alumni Association. Longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Carol was honored by being listed in the Who's Who in American Business in 1999, as an Outstanding Business Professional in 2006, the Metropolitan Who's Who Registry for Outstanding Leadership in Business in 2007, the Cambridge Who's Who Honors Awards in 2006-2007, and the Premier International Who's Who Registry of Outstanding Professionals for 2007-2008. Carol was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AC since 2011 and their treasurer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Bruce I. Baker, on Dec. 18, 2003., two brothers, Larry and Kenny Eberhart, half-brother, Louis Eberhart, brother-in-law, Fred Southwood, and a nephew, Bill Huntsman. Carol is survived by two daughters and five grandchildren, who were "Her pride and joy, and the lights of her life" Tami Parton and Tanya Burch, Anthony and Kaisha Burch, Kent, Parker and Addison Parton; a special bonus son, Juliano Costa, an exchange student from Brazil; her sister, Judy Southwood, step-sister, Maryjo Schafrath; niece, Lisa Huntsman, nephew, Scott (Ginger) Southwood; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, in Trinity United Church of Christ at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Taylor-Peck officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church from 10-11 a.m. Entombment will be in North Lawn Mausoleum. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
