CARL R. RUSSELL,
Age 81, of Canton, passed away Tues. evening in Aultman Hospital. Born in Canton, a son of the late Fred and Nora Poland Russell, he had been a life resident of Canton. Carl retired from Ohio Bell after 38 years service as a cable splicer. He was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers and met his friends from Ohio Bell for a monthly breakfast 201 times. Carl proudly served with the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Japan as a Dental Assistant during the Korean War. Preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Russell, on Dec. 28, 2008, one sister, Doris Lincoln and one brother, Wayne Russell. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Garry Scott, of Oakville, WA, and Nancy and Ken Shockling, of Canton; one sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Ed Collins, of East Canton, one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Leni Russell, of Carrollton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Mon. at 10 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sun. from 5-8 p.m. His daughters would like to thank all of his family and friends for their loving support during his long battle with emphysema. We greatly appreciated everyone's help and the many phone calls that kept him going.
