Carl W. Rose
Age 91, of Waynesburg, passed away Wed., Dec.30. 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 21, 1929 in Adena, OH, a son of the late Vernon and Myrtle (Dorrance) Rose, and had been a resident of the Magnolia/Waynesburg area most of his life. He was a 1947 graduate of Magnolia High School. Carl retired Jan 31, 1998 as Nuisance Inspector for Stark County. He was currently serving on the Stark County Regional Planning Commission, and also had served on the Stark, Tuscarawas, & Wayne Joint Solid Waste Management Board, and the Stark County Emergency Preparedness Board, helping setup 911 with Ed Cox, and had served as a Sandy Township Trustee. Carl had been a farmer all his life and besides his service to Stark County he led a varied and interesting career, starting years ago as a house mover for Sickafoose Movers of Magnolia, bus driver for Sandy Valley Schools, glass installer for United Plate Glass of Canton, as an oil field pumper for Linhart & Bennett of Wooster, and was a partner in Lotz & Rose Implement Store. He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, Caldwell Lodge #330, F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, NEFCO, Magnolia Grange, and Magnolia Ruritan Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Towery, daughter Patty, and brothers, Maurice and Earl Rose. Carl is survived by his wife, Elaine Rose, with whom he celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on March 23rd, his daughter, Melody (Mat) Hawk, and their children, Laney, Luke, and Lilly. A private service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Carl Orphanides officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family is planning to hold a Memorial Service at a future time. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
