Brooks C. Gilmore
Age 84, of Canton, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 9, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Marquis and Lorna (Clow) Gilmore, and was a life resident. Brooks was a 1945 graduate of Lehman High School and a 1961 graduate of Akron University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. He retired in 1985 from The Timken Co., after 35 years service, where he was a systems analyst. Brooks was a life member of Christ Presbyterian Church, a 59 year member of Trinity Lodge #710, F. & A.M., and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Tadmor Temple, and Nazir Grotto. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Survived by his wife, Helen E. Gilmore, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sept. 23rd; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Joseph Woofter, of North Canton; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce Gilmore, of North Canton, Mark Gilmore, of Canton, and Douglas and Amy Gilmore, of Worthington, OH; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Christina and Brandon "Blue" Woofter, Grant and Rachel Gilmore, Richard (Julie) Gilmore and their daughter, Hannah, and Brooks C. Gilmore; one brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Mary Gilmore, of Canton. A Celebration of Brooks life will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ Presbyterian Church with Pastor Wendy Bausman officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at 2:15 p.m. prior to the service. The family will receive friends in Westminster Hall in the church immediately following the service where a luncheon will be served.
