IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie
Bowers
September 10, 1933 – April 29, 2025
Bonnie L. Bowers
Bonnie L. Bowers, 91, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on April 29, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 10, 1933, in Granite, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Herschel and Bertha Hoskins, and in subsequent years the daughter of the late Stanley Hill. The family moved to Santa Ana, California, when she was a young child where she resided until she married in 1954 and moved to Ohio.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Dana L. Bowers, and her daughter Linda McDonald. Bonnie is also preceded in death by her companion and dear partner, Ron McKimm, and her sister, Doris Fabian.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Sandi Horst) Bowers; two daughters, Lori (Brian) Moore and Lisa Bowers; sons-in-law, Craig Coy and Dean McDonald; and daughter-in-law Tammi Johnson. Bonnie was a proud and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Dennis (Greg Mastroianni) Coy, Jennifer (Brad) Wallace, Jon (Dylan Dyer) Coy, Michael Coy, Zachary Moore, Taylor (Angela) Moore, Rebecca (Devin) Daugherty, Benjamin Johnson-Bowers, India Johnson-Bowers, and Casey Johnson-Bowers. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Paisley and Bennett Wallace, Maya and Vincent Moore, and Miles and Estelle Daugherty.
Bonnie worked at Timken Mercy Medical Center as a secretary in the Volunteer Office until her retirement. She found deep fulfillment in her role, cherishing the opportunity to work with volunteers, recognizing the unique gifts and talents of each. She embraced the charism of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in her work and interactions with her colleagues and volunteers and worked well with so many people. It was this role that put her on the path to formally becoming an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in 1992, and for the next 33 years, she built deep spiritual relationships with many people who she dearly loved and who dearly loved her.
Services will be held Monday, May 5, at 11 am in the Congregational United Church of Christ, where Bonnie was a member, with her grandson, Pastor Dennis Coy, officiating. Interment will be in North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4-6 pm at the church. The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bonnie's name may be made to: Congregational United Church of Christ, 1530 Easton St NE, Canton, OH 44721. Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
