Blanche E. (Materna) Faigley
Age 93, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb.16, 2012, in Hennis Care Center in Bolivar. She was born in Rose Township, Carroll County, OH, a daughter of the late Julius and Caroline (Gallon) Materna, and was a Waynesburg resident most of her life. She and her husband spent a number of winters in Frostproof, FL. Blanche was a 1936 graduate of Waynesburg High School, and attended Canton Actual Business College. She had been a secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Columbus and also worked in the office of The Timken Co. during World War II. She volunteered for the Board of Elections for 20 years. Blanche was a long-time member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waynesburg, and is now a member of Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Church at the Crossroads. Preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Charles W. Faigley, Sr., on Nov. 9, 1973, and she was last of 13 brothers and sisters. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Janet Faigley, Jr., of East Sparta; two grandsons and their wives, John and Melanie Faigley, of Canonsburg, PA, and Michael and Carrie Faigley, of East Sparta; five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Matthew, Zachary, Macie and Reid. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor John Maroni officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery.
