Bill Westphal
Age 64, of Canton, passed away Friday morning in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Dover, a son of the late Dolores Westphal, and had been a Canton resident 11 years, previously residing in Waynesburg. Bill was a 1965 graduate of Sandy Valley High School. He worked 25 years at Hercules Engines until it closed, and then worked 13 years for Belden-Blake, Arrow, and Arvilla Oil Field Services. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with Mary. He also loved muscle cars and drag racing, which he did for a number of years at Magnolia Drag Strip. Survived by his loving wife, Mary L. (Mills) Westphal, with whom he celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary on April 21st; his step-dad and step-mom, Paul and Betty Fox, of Louisville; a half-brother, Paul Fox, Jr., of Magnolia; two brothers-in-law and their wives, John and Bonnie Mills, of Magnolia, and Vince and Coleen Mills, of Middletown, PA; two nephews, a niece, great-niece, and two great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved collie, Blaze. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Terry Bailey officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. before the service. Mary wishes to express her appreciation for the love and care Aultman Hospice gave to Bill, and also to family friends and neighbors, George and Lucy Yoho, for their wonderful support.
