Beverly E. Burns

Age 96, of Massillon, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021.  She was born July 28, 1924 in Canton, a daughter of the late John and Esther (Plotner) Woolley, and was a life resident of this area.  Beverly was a 1942 graduate of McKinley High School and was a lifelong fan of the Bulldogs as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians.  She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Bereavement Group, Prayer Line, and the Altar-Rosary Society.  She also was a member of Canton Perry Chapter #2898, A.A.R.P., and had volunteered at Meadow Wind Health Care Center fifteen years.  In her earlier years Beverly had worked at Canton Hardware and The Timken Co.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed tending to her flowers, and loved animals, especially dogs and cats.   In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert R. Burns, on July 19, 2010, a sister and brother-in-law,  Pauline and Fred Wiener, brother, Ray Woolley, step-father, John Plotner, nephew, Karl Wiener, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Grace Burns.  She is survived by two daughters and a son, Cheryl (Paul) Phillimore, Karen (Gary) Spino, and Robert Burns, four granddaughters and three great-grandsons, Michelle Johnson and her sons, Brady and Landon, Jennifer Spino, Tara Burns Szabo and her son, Joey, Tiffany Burns and her daughter, Skye Ruby Huff, and a very special person, Nicholas Lehmenkuler, and six nieces and one nephew.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Fr. G. David Weikart as Celebrant.  Friends may call Friday 9:30 a.m.-10 a.m. at the church before the Mass.  Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.  The family wishes to express their appreciation for the love, care and outstanding service given to Beverly at The Inn at University Village, Crossroads Hospice, and especially Elaine from Home Instead Senior Care.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Beverly's memory may be made to either, Stark County Humane Society, PO Box 7077, Canton, OH 44705, Woodside Pet Cemetery, 6450 Shepler Church Ave. SW, Navarre, OH 44662, or the Alzheimers Assoc., Canton Chapter.  The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.
