Betty Clyde (Christian) Tatum
Age 84, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Sherman, TX, a daughter of the late Clyde and Bonnie (Doyle) Christian, moved to Red Lodge, MT, then to Olney, IL, and to Canton in 1969. Betty was a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League as well as a bridge teacher. She travelled the world for over 30 years working on cruise ships as a bridge teacher as part of the activities on board. She touched many lives through her involvement in the McKinley Bridge Unit, and leaves behind many friends in the bridge community, as well as the lives she had touched. In 1973 she donated one of her kidneys to her sister, Mary in Texas, giving her sister 30 years of life she would not have had otherwise. Her sister, Mary Catherine Knight, preceded her in death. Survived by her five children, Robert Stephen (Kathryn) Tatum, of Salt Lake City, UT, Christopher Lee (Margaret) Tatum, of Lewiston, MI, Mary Elizabeth Tatum Case and Patricia Tatum Bandsuch, both of Canton, and Roberta "Robbie" Tatum Joy, of Howell, MI; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Wed., March 27, 2013 at 4 p.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey L. Shultz officiating.
