Betty D. (Schlimm) Keeney
age 84, of East Sparta, OH, passed away from complications due to a stroke in the Aultman Hospital Palliative Care Center on Friday, May, 27, 2011. Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother will be forever missed. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late George and Thelma (Hill) Schlimm and was a life resident of the East Sparta area. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Richard Schlimm. She is survived by her husband, David Keeney, with whom she celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on Feb. 8, 2011; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Suzette Keeney of Canton; granddaughters Linette (Adam) Ruess of Canton, and Crystal Keeney of East Sparta: grandson, Gregory Keeney of Cleveland, and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tony and Caitlyn Ruess. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law Gene and Norma Schlimm of East Sparta, and Jack Schlimm of Sandyville, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Norm Watson of East Sparta, and Mary and David Winn of Canton, and sisters-in-law Helen Schlimm and Ellen Schlimm, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Betty was a member of the East Sparta United Methodist Church, Auxiliary of American Legion Post #244, and the East Sparta Women's Club. Family and friends will miss the numerous greeting cards that Betty would send for all occasions. She also loved sewing, bingo, fill-in puzzles, bowling, dog and horse races. Family and friends may call at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home, 266 North Main Street, Magnolia on Tuesday, May, 31, from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Sparta United Methodist Church, PO Box 445, East Sparta, OH 44626, or Aultman Hospice & Palliative Care, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708. The family would like to thank Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar, the doctors and nurses at Aultman Hospital, especially the Aultman Palliative Care Unit and in-patient Hospice, who helped support the family during this time.
