Betty (Hager) Jacoby
Age 87, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at her sons home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in East Sparta, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Yenny) Hager, and was a life resident of the East Sparta area. Betty was a 1946 graduate of East Sparta High School. She was retired from Sandy Valley Local Schools where she had been a cook. Betty was a an extremely active member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a primary Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and the Woman's Society, for which she had been named their Woman of The Year. She also had been a poll worker for Stark County for many years. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Stephen R. Jacoby, Sr., on July 9, 2014, a brother, Robert Hager, a sister, Viola Whitmer, and her beloved dog, Dink. Survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debbie Jacoby, Jr., of East Sparta, and Dave and Syvilla Jacoby, of Navarre; four granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren, Stacy and Brian Soehnlen, and their children, Taylor, Dillon, and Lewey, Melissa and Jeff Beck, and their children, Bryce, Brylee, Brailynn, and Branson, Jody Morris and her son, Matthew, Bonnie and Randy Troyer and their son, Gavin; four sisters, Louise Habrun, of East Sparta, Helen and Bill Becher, of Ann Arbor, MI, Bonnie Bennett, of Canal Fulton, and Lillian and Don Steele, of Massillon. Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Bradford officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Pike Township. Friends may call at the church Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service. Betty was a God fearing woman, and only saw the good in people and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She truly was an Angel. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 7344 Ridge Ave. SE, East Sparta, OH 44626.
