Bernice J. Staley
Age 92, of Mineral City, passed away Thursday morning in Union Hospital. She was born in New Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary (Morgan) Yoss, and had been a Mineral City resident all her life. Bernice was a 1939 graduate and Valedictorian of Mineral City High School. She retired in 1980 from the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co., after 30 years service, where she was a tile picker. Bernice was a member of St. Paul Community Church and a charter member of the Auxiliary of the Sandy Valley Eagles. She loved arranging flowers and decorating the church for special occasions, and also enjoyed preparing and presenting the Advent lessons during Christmas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Chester F. Staley, on March 2, 1984. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Larry Poole, of Mebane, NC; her son and daughter-in-law, D. F. and Sue Staley, of Romney, WV; six grandchildren, Adanna (Jeff) Richman, Cynda (Kevin) Douglas, Scott (Laura) Staley, Lee (Ashley) Staley, Jeff Poole, and Mike (Nicole) Poole; eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Mark Gross officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. Her family wishes to express their appreciation to Bernice's numerous close friends who were especially helpful to her when she needed assistance.
