Bernard L. Sampsel

Age 84, of Mineral City, went to be with the Lord, and died peacefully at Truman House, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, August 2, 2024.  He was born August 4, 1939 in Medina, OH, a son of the late Harold D. and Mary M. (Coudret) Lint, and resided in Mineral City most of his life.  He was retired from Ironworkers Local #550 in Canton, and was an Honorary Member of North American Hunters and the NRA.  He was a member of Tabor Ridge Community Church.  Bernie was a great story teller and loved to watch his grandsons' wrestling matches and hear about his son-in-law, Junior's Bass fishing tournaments.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman, watching the Cleveland Browns, OSU, and NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhart, Sr.

In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Vonita L. Sampsel, on Oct. 12, 2019, a son, Jeffrey "Red" Sampsel, on Nov. 20, 2016, six brothers and sisters, and his beloved dog, Bink.  Bernie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Paul Rennie, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Sampsel; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Herron, and their daughters, Olivia and Essie, Nicholas Herron and his son Louden, Tyler (Madison) Herron, and baby Bernie, Chelsea (Jason) Weast, and Matthew Sampsel; also, one brother and four sisters.

Services will be held Sat., Aug. 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Tabor Ridge Community Church with Pastor John Dunn officiating.  Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  Interment will be in New Cumberland Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
