Barbara K. Slutz,
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Barbara K. Slutz, of Magnolia, Ohio passed away Mon., Oct. 19, 2026, with her family by her side at age of 75. She fought a lengthy, but courageous battle with cancer and in the end she won the fight when she heard “Well done my good and faithful servant”. She was born Nov. 23, 1950, in Dover, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Leggett) Vandevort. Barb was a 1970 graduate of Tusky Valley High School and was a member of Sandy Valley Church of God.
She will lovingly be remembered, and missed, by her husband, Dean Slutz with whom she just celebrated 52 beautiful years of marriage, as well as two daughters, Angela (Scott) Norquest and Mandy (Michael) Pullins; two sons, Eric (Monica) Slutz and Randy Slutz; one sister, Terry Davidson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Bordner and Nancy Myers; and two brothers, John and William Vandevort.
The joy of her life were her grandchildren, Allison (Cody) McKinney, Connor (Chloe) Norquest, Cameron (Emily) Norquest, Madison (Cameron) Mattox, Austin Slutz and Ge'Kye Kelley as well as her great-grandchildren: Kingston Bird, Kolten McKinney, Roy McKinney, Kyler McKinney, Octavia Habrun, Jazlyn Tharp, Ella Wynn (Wynnie) McKinney, Ceylon Mattox, and Renli Mattox. She also anticipated the addition of four great grandbaby boys in the Spring of 2027 who will surely know of her love.
Barb enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, bingo, board games and spending time with friends, and family every chance she got. She was often known as the life of the party and if there was fun to be had, she was always a part of it. While the void she leaves behind is tremendous, the loving legacy and countless memories shared will live on forever.
Services will be held Fri. at 12pm in Sandy Valley Church of God with Pastor Joel Donahue and her son-in-law, Pastor Scott Norquest, officiating. Interment in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Friends may call Fri. from 10am to 12pm in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barb’s memory may be made to: Susan G. Komen Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380, or online at: komen.org.
