He was issued a citation on April 7, 1945 for bombing a German airfield. His favorite missions were the aid missions flown when food and supplies were dropped to the people in Holland, and they responded by having a large "Thanks Yanks" made from tulips on the airfield. Arthur has remained an active participant in the 452nd reunions.
