Allen B. Jones

Age 84, of Dover, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2023.  He was born July 17, 1939 in French Hills, Tuscarawas County, OH, a son of the late William and Mila (Machen) Jones, resided in Dover since 2020, previously Mineral City 40 years and Canton a number of years.  Al was retired from Riggs Express Trucking Co. where he was a truck driver.  Following his retirement, he carried mail for D & M Express Co.  He also had owned and operated the Zoar Market in the 1980's.  Al possessed a great sense of humor, and loved working in his flower beds around the house.  He had honorably served in the Marine Corps from 1956-58.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, Calvin and McDonald Jones, June Richardson, Donna Renner, and Elizabeth Westbrook.  Al is survived by his wife, Sue C. Jones; two daughters and one son, Lisa Jones, Nadine Lawley, and David (Dawn) Jones; a step-daughter, JoLene Gordon; six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen (Phyllis) Jones.

A graveside service will be held Wed. at 3 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville with Josh Robinson officiating.  A luncheon will follow at the North Star Clubhouse at 4:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Al's memory may be made to the donor's favorite charity.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
