Alice R. Myser
Age 87, of Canton, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Bruce and Mary (Hawk) Weir, was raised in Carrollton, and resided in Canton since 1952. Alice was a 1946 graduate of Carrollton High School, and a 1950 graduate of Mount Union College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education, and where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She began her teaching career at Howard Local Schools in Knox County, then Richville Elementary School, and finally for Canton City Schools at Lincoln Junior High. After Canton City she taught at and retired from the Multi County Detention Center. Alice was a former long-time member of Grace United Church of Christ, which she served as Treasurer over 20 years, and is now a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She also was a member of Mount Union College Women, Alpha Chi Omega Alumni, and numerous card clubs. In her early years on the farm she was a long-time member of 4-H. Alice loved baking and was famous for her blueberry, apple and cherry pies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard D. Myser, on Oct. 13, 2006. Survived by her daughter, Carole Anne Myser and Eileen Martin, of Upper Arlington, OH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Beth Myser, of Upper Arlington, OH, and Terry and Victoria Myser, of Monroeville, PA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Allison (Mark) Abell, and their sons, Jack and Benjamin, Amy (Joel) Hippert, and their son, Jacob, and another on the way, Douglas, Kathryn, and Bradley Myser. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Heather Haginduff officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service.
