Alice L. Clevenger
Age 86, of Carrollton, passed away Wed. morning in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar.
She was born in Portsmouth, OH, a daughter of the late John and Hattie (Ramey) Blanton, and had been a resident of the Magnolia area most of her life. Alice was a 1944 graduate of Sandy Hook, KY High School, and taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school near Sandy Hook during World War II, for one year. She was an avid bowler in the Tuesday night league at East Sparta Recreation, and also enjoyed dog races. Preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan Clevenger, on July 22, 2004, and a son, Ernest Clevenger, on Nov. 4, 2001. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Lorrie Clevenger, of Magnolia; a grandson, Jonathan Clevenger and his wife, Emily, of Canton South; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Clevenger Lockhart, of Uniontown, OH; two sisters, Ruby Rennison, of Chillicothe, and Mary Jane Lowe, of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Clyde Blanton, of Magnolia, and Les and Peg Blanton, of Washington. Private services will be held Monday in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Joel Soza officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
