Alfred D. Otte 1929-2016
Age 86, of Dellroy, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dellroy, a son of the late John and Marguerite (McCarthy) Otte, and was a life resident. Al was a 1948 graduate of Magnolia High School. He was retired from Roads Machinery, and previously was a long-time employee of Structural Stoneware where he was an accountant and pilot. Al also had Otte Excavating, a tree farm, and operated a saw mill. He served as a Rose Township Trustee for 20 years. Al served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Dellroy American Legion Post #475, and Carrollton VFW Post #3301. Al was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Morges. He was very proud that in retirement he harvested trees that he planted as a youth, and he and his son milled and cut the boards to build his son's home. Preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Otte, on March 19, 1986, seven sisters and one brother, Joan McAllister, Wilma Rice, Mary Murphy, Nancy Copeland, Judy Ferguson, Virginia Otte, Cecilia "Martha" Lippman, and Pat Otte. Survived by his wife, Marilyn Y. Otte; three daughters, Lisa (Frank) Skorzewski, Rhonda Otte, and Connie (Jay) Winters; one son, Hazen (Cassie) Otte; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson; seven step-children; three sisters, Jean (Ted) Boller, Rita (Dallas Haines) Otte, and Barbara (Dave) Leyda; and one brother, Dick (Shelby) Otte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Batt as Celebrant. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. Interment will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
