Paul H. Stuffel
Age 91, of Canton, passed away Sunday September 9, 2018. He was born March 22, 1927 in Canton, a son of the late Peter and Ethel (Blakue) Stuffel, and had resided in Alliance, OH and Citrus Park, Fl as well as Canton during his life. He was a 1945 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a retired Nationwide Insurance Agent and also had worked for Prudential Insurance Co., both in Alliance. Paul had played professional baseball for eleven years, and was a pitcher for three years for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1950-1953, as a member of the “Whiz Kids” who won the National League Pennant in 1950. Paul had served in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in Germany and where he also played baseball, and while there won the European Theatre Operations Championship. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn J. “Mimi” Stuffel, on Jan. 10, 2000, one sister and two brothers, Dorothy Bryan, Jack and David Stuffel. Paul is survived by one daughter, Polly (Jeff) Stieber, three sons, Paul (Julie) Stuffel, Michael (Marie) Stuffel, and Mathew (Cheryl) Stuffel, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one sister, Elaine Bowersox, and a special friend, Eileen Sullivan. According to Paul’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of the Canton Christian Home and Community Hospice for the love and care they gave to Paul.
