OLTIE C. PICKENS,
Age 86, of Magnolia, passed away Thur., Aug. 2, 2018. Born in Lewis Co., WV, a son of the late Clyde and Olga (Gibson) Pickens, Sr., he had been a Magnolia resident since 1966. Oltie served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1994 from Republic Steel Corp. after 42 years service, where he was a heater. He had also worked as a farmer, beekeeper and grew hydroponic tomatoes. Oltie was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta, the former Sponseller Grange, a former member of Pike Grange, and volunteered at Aultman Hospital for 20 years. Preceded in death by three brothers, Laco Carl, Clyde, Jr., and Larry. Survived by his wife, Mary Pickens, with whom he would have celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on Aug. 11th; one son, Jerry Pickens; two daughters, Peggy and Douglas Dix, and Beth and David Halley; his grandchildren, Brook Pickens, Rebecca, Jessica and Joshua Dix, and Sabrina, Faith and Alyssa Halley; great grandson, Tristam Rein-Villa; one brother, Rell Gene Pickens; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Mike Pozzuto officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery.
