Maxine (Huntsman) King
Age 90, of Canton, passed away peacefully Monday Feb. 19, 2018, in Aultman Compassionate Care, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born August 14, 1927 in Dart, OH, a daughter of the late Glen and Leora (Westbrook) Huntsman. Maxine graduated from Barnesville high School in 1944 and Marietta College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and a Minor in Economics. Prior to her marriage to Robert King on Sept. 4, 1955, she worked for J. C. Penney Co., and also the Ohio Power Co. as a Home Economist. After her marriage she held several jobs which utilized her never-met-a-stranger type of personality. She retired from Johnson Personnel, where she was a manager, in August of 1985. Maxine was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Board of Deacons, as well as other church activities. She was an excellent seamstress, and along with her husband’s wood working, made various crafts for craft shows. Maxine was an avid reader, particularly Mary Higgins Clark books. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, and following Ohio State Football. Maxine is survived by her husband, Robert H. King, with whom she celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 4th; her sons, Kevin (Colleen) King, and Timothy King; two grandchildren, Lori (Jessie) Stocks, and Ryan King, and three great-grandchildren, Nolen, Kevin, and Cora. Also surviving are nieces, a nephew and several cousins. Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor C. David Morgan and Rev. Michael Baker officiating. Following cremation interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park in Barnesville at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may call Thursday 5-8 p.m. A lunch will be served in Calvary Presbyterian Church in North Canton following the service.
