LAUREN F. SHEAFFER,
73, fought a brief battle with melanoma, but found victory with Jesus on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Born in Canton October 7, 1944, to the late Ernest and Olive (Inboden) Sheaffer, he resided in the Magnolia area. Lauren was a 1962 graduate of Glenwood High School and a dedicated member of Faith Community Church. He retired in 2009 from Saturn of Belden Village where he was a true salesman with integrity. Following his retirement, Lauren enjoyed working in Automotive at the Walmart in Massillon. Known for his “Sheaffer humor” and for being a jack-of-all-trades, Lauren’s lifelong godly example taught us many valuable lessons: he rarely angered, always remained positive, never knew a stranger, and put his faith and family first. A devoted husband to his wife, Shirley (Hamilton) Sheaffer, with whom he celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on June 5th. A loving father to two sons and daughters-in-law, Brett and Bren Sheaffer, and Brad and Alisha Sheaffer, and preceded in death by baby son Lauren Bond. He also loved two sisters and brothers-in-law, SaDara and Jim Tilley, and LaVonne and John Watt; two brothers- and sisters-in-law, Donald and Joyce Hamilton, and Robert and Mary Isla; grandchildren, Eric Sheaffer, Jay Schneider, Stephanie Walters, and Sam Wion; aunts, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Services will be held Fri. at 11 a.m. in Faith Community Church with Rev. Elden Smith, Dr. Glen Osborn, and Dr. Donald Hamilton officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thur. from 6-8 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home in Canton and Fri. from 10-11 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lauren’s memory may be made to Faith Community Church, 4301 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709. Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com. The family expresses gratitude to the Hennis Care Center in Bolivar for their caring support in Lauren’s last weeks.
