Harold J. Farber
Age 93, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday July 19, 2018. He was born in Sandyville, the son of the late Lewis and Ethel (Oswald) Farber and was a lifetime resident of this area. Harold was a 1943 graduate of Magnolia High School. He retired in May of 1988 from the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta, after 45 years service, where he was Plant Manager. Harold was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, where he taught a Sunday school class over 30 years and served as Treasurer and in many other capacities over the years. He also was a member of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta and Sandy Valley A.A.R.P. Chapter #4647. Harold proudly served in the U. S. Navy Seabees during World War II. Harold was honored as "Citizen of The Year" during Canal Days in 2014. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Mottice Wilson, and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Farber. Harold is survived by his wife, Frances L. Farber, with whom he celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary on April 19th; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn & William “Butch” Blankenship, of Dauphin Island, AL; one son, H. Jay Farber, of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tues at 1 p.m. in the Magnolia United Methodist Church with Pastor Carl Orphanides and Pastor Stephen Smith officiating. Friends may call Mon. 5-8 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Tuesday one hour before the service from 12-1 p.m. in the church.
