Glen B. “Bud” Shipbaugh

Age 96, of Bronson, FL, passed away April 9, 2018.  He was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Massillon, a son of the late Francis and Hazel (Sterner) Shipbaugh, had been a Bronson resident since 1986, previously Bolivar 1961-86 and Mineral City 1945-61.  Bud retired in 1984 from Soehnlen Piping Co. at Louisville after over 37 years service, where he was a plumber/pipefitter.  He was a member of Bronson United Methodist Church and a former member of Bolivar United Methodist Church, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #94 in Canton, Caldwell Lodge #330, F. & A.M. of Bolivar serving as Master in 1975.  He was Past District Education Officer of the 21st Masonic District of the Grand Lodge of Ohio in 1980-82, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Williston Chapter #142, Order of Eastern Star, in Williston, FL, serving as Worthy Patron in 1991-92, member and Past Patron of Bolivar Chapter #368, Order of Eastern Star, member and Past Watchman of the Shepherd of Judea White Shrine of Jerusalem #55 in Dover, Past Commander and Life Member of American Legion Post #190 in Bolivar, and a Life Member of the D.A.V. in Dover. Bud proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.  Bud proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Catherine A. “Katie” Shipbaugh, on Feb. 22, 2008, a son Paul Shipbaugh and sister Dorothy Shipbaugh.  He is survived by two granddaughters, Stacy (Jim) McGowan and Jill (Chris Arndt) Shipbaugh, and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, and Mylie Arndt.  He will be buried with Military Honors Sat. at 2 p.m. in Sunset Hills Burial Park.  There is no visitation.  The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
