Geneva R. Owens
Age 89, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday June 11, 2018. She was born Dec. 27, 1928 in Mapleton, a daughter of the late Chauncey and Hattie (Fickeisen) Young and was a life resident of this area. Geneva was a 1946 graduate of East Canton High School. She was a retired bookkeeper from Sherer Appliances, and also worked at Natco and Robertsville Brick Yard. Geneva was a member of First Christian Church of Malvern, was a long-time bowler, enjoyed doing crafts making Christmas ornaments, and made quilts for her grandchildren. Geneva is survived by her husband, Benjamin F. Owens, with whom she celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 7th last year, one daughter and one son, Cindy (Jon) Unkefer, and Alan (Tammy) Owens; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Shawn) Danko, and their children, Vincent and Makenzie, Eric (Leslie) Owens, and their children, Jack and Tabitha, Shaun (Holly) Unkefer, and their sons, Aiden, Maddox, and Kasen, and Hunter (Courtney) Unkefer. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in First Christian Church of Malvern with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service.
