Corinne R. Haney

Age 40, of Magnolia, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2019.  She was born Nov. 3, 1978 in Canton, a daughter of Dawn (Boley) Houmard and the late Lawrence Houmard, and had been a Magnolia resident since 2007.  She was a 1997 graduate of Tuslaw High School.  She started her college career at Walsh University and graduated from Kent State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She then went to Stark State College for Massage Therapy.  Corinne was very involved with Sandy Valley High School as a substitute teacher, tutoring and volunteering with the students.  She helped coach middle school track and basketball, and was strength and conditioning coach for all the sports, especially football and baseball.  She was driven and strong willed in order to help push the athletes to do their very best.  She would not ask them to do anything that she would not do herself.  It was the students and the community that helped her find her calling and changed her career to teaching and sports.  Besides her mother, Corinne is survived by her husband, Jared A. Haney, with whom she celebrated their ninth Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 4th; their two sons, Broderick and Vance; four sisters and four brothers, Carrie Powell, Aryn (Josh) Baus, Samantha Houmard, Jessie (John) Rose-Caron, Bill Houmard, Steven (Erika) Houmard, Robby (Deissy) Houmard, and Justin (Audra) Houmard.  The support of the community and several churches has been so overwhelming through her battle and has been appreciated so much by the family.  It allowed many things to be possible, especially for Jared and the boys to be able to spend time with and make wonderful memories with Corinne.  A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday Oct. 8, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  A Volley for The Cure will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Sandy Valley High School.   In lieu of flowers, contributions in Corinne’s memory may be made to either: Josette Beddell Memorial Foundation, Stewart’s Caring Place Cancer Wellness Center, or Sandy Valley Academic Booster Club.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
