Age 77, of Canton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Otis and Virginia (Blakely) Barnhart, and was a life resident of this area, growing up in Mineral City and residing in Magnolia many years. Chuck was a 1958 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School and retired in 2002 from Sugardale Foods, Inc. with 36 years service. Previously he worked seven years for Eberhart Coal Co., and served as President of the Eberhart Coal Retirees for 11 years. He was a 31 year member of Sandy Valley Eagles #3228, which he served as President for seven years. He also was a member of the Bolivar Army-Navy Club, the Tuscarawas Valley Pioneer Power Association for many years, and attended Sandy Valley Church of God. Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, Debbie Klaus, Carol Schupbach, Ron, Jesse and Keith Barnhart. He is survived by his wife, Grace Barnhart, with whom he celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on March 25th; three daughters and two sons, Kathy (Danny) Beatty, Beth (Paul) Phelps, Karen (David) Schiffer, Michael (Maricel) Barnhart, and Brian Barnhart; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers, Janie Martin, Susan (Joe Polen) Barnhart, Gary (Sharon) Barnhart, and Terry “Butch” (Peggy) Barnhart. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Clifford Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Zoar Cemetery.
