William F. Bigler, Jr.

Age 67, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Senior Living Center, after a three year battle with cancer.  He was born Oct. 26, 1949, in Orrville, OH, a son of the late William and Rachel (Calhoun) Bigler, Sr. After graduation from high school he entered the U. S. Air Force and served in Vietnam and then was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS.  After his Discharge he was employed by Beechcraft Aircraft Corporation, where he was a hydraulic specialist for the Super King aircraft.  He returned to Ohio and became an HVAC  technician and worked as an independent contractor.  He was a life-long train enthusiast and a lifetime member of the National Model Railroad Association, and very active in railroad preservation.  He attended the Church of the Covenant in Canton.  Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dr. Catharine Tabb-Bigler, sisters, Shirley Falb and Judy Yoder, nephews, Matthew and Mack Yoder, nieces, Cathy Richards and Hilary Tabb Houston, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Will Tabb and Vera Dauffenbach Tabb.  The family wants to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Senior Living Center for their excellent care in his final days and the love and support they have received from the Church of The Covenant and the employees of the Family Practice Center of Louisville.  A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of The Covenant on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 4 p.m. with his brother-in-law, Dr. Wilfred E. Tabb III Ph. D and Rev. Karin Wright officiating. Friends may call Sat. 2-4 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home and Sunday 3-4 p.m. at the church before the service.   Military Honors will be held at the church.   In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to either Church of The Covenant, 3014 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718, or St. Joseph’s Senior Living  Center, 2308 Reno Dr., Louisville, OH 44641.  Condolences may be sent to: gordonfuneralhomes.com
