Virginia L. Strasser

Age 85, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017.  She was born June 26, 1931, in Greensboro, NC, a daughter of the late Clayton and Aurelia (Adams) Smith, Sr., and had been a Canton resident all her life.  Virginia was a 1949 graduate of McKinley High School.  She retired from The Timken Co., after 31 years service, where she worked in the Bearing Factory.  She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #141, and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns.  Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Mike Strasser.  She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Donald) Dine, Jr., of N. Canton, and her son, Ronnie Strasser, of Canton; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Helen (Ron) Maruna, of Chicago, and Bonnie Piper, of Virginia; two brothers, Clayton (Marie) Smith, Jr., of Plain Township, and Richard (Rita) Smith, of Massillon.  Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Ron Iwanusa officiating.  Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday 10-11 a.m. before the service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Virginia’s memory may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
