Valeria H Rice

age 89, of Mineral City, passed away Sat., March 25, 2017.  She was born June 10, 1927, in Harrison County, OH, a daughter of the late Boyd and Hazel (Kent) Hall, Sr., and had been a resident of the Magnolia-Mineral City area most of her life.  Valeria was a 1945 graduate of Madison High School in Guernsey County.  She worked alongside her husband on their swine and beef farms in the Magnolia and Mineral City area.  Valeria attended Sandyville United Methodist Church, and enjoyed baking, gardening, antiques, and attending local auctions.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Marvin Kay Rice, on August 10, 1991, having married Aug. 7, 1948; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjory and Jesse Davidson, and Kathleen and Dwight Pittis, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Virgil Hall, and Harley and Mildred Hall, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clement and Roberta Rice, and a brother-in-law, John Mirling.  Valeria is survived by her daughter, Valeria K. Rice; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Agnes Larrick, and Vivian and Robert Tedrick; one brother and sister-in-law, Boyd and Inez Hall, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Helen Maxine Mirling; several nieces and nephews; and her special canine companion, Reba.  Services will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Ruthann Bosley officiating.  Interment will be in German Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m.  Her daughter would like to thank Dr. Anne Harper, nurses, staff, and volunteers of Community Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion; a special thank you to Aric, Deanna, Heidi, Sonya, and Tynne; and also thank you to the staff of The Inn at Northwood Village.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Valeria’s memory may be made to Sandyville United Methodist Church, PO Box 7, Sandyville, OH 44671, Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH  44663, or to the charity of choice.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
