Norma E. Klein

Age 97, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018.  She was born August 9, 1920 in Beidler (now Goshen), OH, a daughter of the late J. O. and Daisy (Haas) Johnson, and moved to Canton during WW II.  She was a 1938 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.  Norma had served as a volunteer Nurses Aide at Mercy Hospital and was a member of the YWCA.  She also graduated from the Beckwith Business College, where she taught upon graduation.  Norma also worked for several Canton businesses until her marriage to David Klein, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society.  Norma retired from AEP where she had been a secretary for 14 years.  She had been a long-time member of the former Christ United Methodist Church on Cleveland Ave. NW, and was very active in the Women’s Society.  She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, card club, and travel with family and friends.  She resided the last 13 years at the Inn at Belden Village.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, David E. Klein, Sr., on March 14, 2005, and seven siblings, she was the last in her family.  Norma is survived by her sons, David (Lu-Hsin) Klein, Jr. and Todd Klein, granddaughter, Carissa Klein, and grandsons, Nolan, Blaine, and Ian Klein.  Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Gammill officiating.  Interment will be in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery near New Philadelphia, OH.  Friends may call Sat. 10-11 a.m. before the service.  Condolences may be sent to: gordonfuneralhomes.com
