Nancy Jean (Callahan) Hannan

Age 88, entered her eternal home Nov. 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Florence A. Hannan, and they married in 1949.  They left the Ohio Valley and ventured to Magnolia, OH where they settled and raised their four children.  Nancy was a stay-at-home mother while raising her children.  She then became a study hall monitor at Sandy Valley High School and then transitioned into the Principal’s Secretary for many years.  Nancy and Charles were blessed to have spent 17 winters in Naples, FL, where they had many good times with wonderful friends.  Nancy prided herself in being an avid exerciser and riding her stationary bicycle daily until she became ill.  She was Charles’ caregiver for many years.  Nancy is survived by her husband, Charles, with whom she celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on April 2nd; her children, Stephanie (Joe) Wigfield, Greg (Helen) Hannan, Mark (Diana) Hannan, and Lise (Mike) Kernan; Nancy’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and include, Dr. Joseph (Lisa) Wigfield, Colleen Wigfield (Daryl) Newell, Paul (Tiphanie) Hannan, Kelly Kernan (Charles) Mace, Sean Kernan, Alex (Laura Connor) Hannan, and Nicholas Hannan, great-grandchildren, Dylan, Joshua, and Jacob Newell, Brandon, Jordan, Landen, and Camdyn Wigfield, and Austin, Iris, and Asher Hannan; and her sister, Mary Lou Schoen.  Nanny, as known by her grandchildren, will always be remembered for her spaghetti & meatballs and chocolate chip cookies.  She enjoyed her annual family Oglebay weekend, summer beach vacations, camping at Atwood, and many picnics with the Magnolia Gang at Atwood Yacht Club.  She was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church, Sandy Valley Women’s Club, Red Hat Society in Naples, East Sparta Bowling League, and Atwood Yacht Club.  A special thank you to the Angels at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar who cared for Nancy throughout her illness and especially her final days.  Nancy will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Sat., November 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Magnolia United Methodist Church with Pastor Carl Orphanides officiating.  The family will receive friends an hour before the service.  A private family burial will be held in Magnolia Cemetery following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Magnolia United Methodist Church 999 Canal St., PO Box 417, Magnolia, OH  44643.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
