John, Linda and Don I had the pleasure of getting to know ur dad for about a little over a year. We always talked about the weather or what I was gonna cook for him. He was a very nice man. I remember him driving the band bus to away football.games. I know there are many un answered questions as to why God took him home. We will never know. What we do know is John accepted God as his Lord and Savior and I am sure he is still talking about and doing God's work in heaven. He is a peace and in no pain. If any of u need anything let me know. Even if it is just someone to listen. I do not know how u feel. Rest in Peace John O. Slack.

I am sorry to learn that John has passed away. He will be dearly missed. I hope a passage at John 5:28,29 brings comfort to all those who are grieving his loss. May the promise of seeing our loved ones again like John uplift your spirits.

To John's family: We were so very sorry to hear of our good friend's passing. He was such a warm, outgoing man, a good friend to Artie's father, and a lover of God's word.
I will always remember him sitting in our living room eating cherry pie.
I regret that he never made it back for the rhubarb.
God bless you all during this difficult time, and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am posting as a childhood friend of John from Syracuse, Ohio. We grew up on the river bank and my grandfather and John's dad, Topcoal Slack fished the river with Trot Lines and the fish were our food. John and I shared a passion for the history of Syracuse and Meigs County and we have exchanged materials for many years. John was a good, decent man and a staunch Christian and I know there are many question being answered for him now. God Bless you John you will be missed.
