John “Jack” McBride
John passed away May 10, 2017. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1932. Jack was a graduate of Youngstown South High School in 1951 and Kent State University in 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank McBride and Louise Reedy McBride. He taught art and coached basketball at Columbiana, Struthers, Canton McKinley High School, Green High School and Jackson High School. On the college level, he coached basketball at Kent State Stark and Walsh University. Jack worked many summers at the Timken Recreation Park. He was a member of the Kent State Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Marjorie Young McBride and children Timothy (Penny) McBride, John (Carla) McBride, Linda McBride of Las Vegas, Michael (Theresa) McBride of TN and Thomas (Melissa) McBride of Hartville, 11 grandchildren: Sean(Laura) McBride, Kyle McBride (Jaclyn Bocutti, Fiancé) and Erin (Alex )Herrick, Desirae (Stephen) Woofter, Courtney (Shane) Siber, Christopher (Jodi) Bragg, Craig Bragg, Jacob and Joe McBride, Jordan McBride, (Erin Fryz, Fiancé), and Michael (Kim) Buonaspina. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Nora Siber, Scarlett Siber and Finnegan Woofter. Calling hours will be Sun. 1:00-4:00PM in the Formet-Clevenger& Gordon Funeral Home and Mon. from 10:00-11:00AM in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Mon. at 11:00AM St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Donald King as Celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Chen of the Visiting Physicians Association, the personnel at Helping Hands, the caregivers at Allay Alzheimer’s facility, and Harbor Light Hospice as well as all family and friends who offered their love and support through this difficult time.
