Harold J. Bernhardt

Harold J. Bernhardt   1925-2016

Age 91, of North Canton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, in Aultman Compassionate Care Center.  He was born in Canton, a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Caldwell) Bernhardt, and was a life resident.  Harold was a 1943 graduate of Lehman High School.  He retired in 1986 from Sugardale Provision Co., after over 35 years service, where he was a truck driver.  Following his retirement, he worked part-time at Kempthorn Motors as a dealer-trader. Harold was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon and helped with the Hunger Task Force.  He was a member of the Memorial Day Parade Committee in North Canton for many years, and was a former member of the North Canton Elks Lodge #2029.  Harold proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Pierotti, and a brother, Dick Bernhardt.  He is survived by his wife, Frances L. Bernhardt, with whom he celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on May 4th; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Larry Mihalik, and one son, Jeffrey (Gayle Kimberly) Bernhardt, all of North Canton; four grandchildren, Collin and Jordan Mihalik, and Cameron (Lauren) and Brayton Bernhardt; and one niece, Bonnie Jo Bernhardt.  Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Michael Baker officiating and where Military Honors will be held.  Following cremation, interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 237 W.
