Donald L. May
Age 79, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday April 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton Jan. 18, 1939, a son of the late George and Mary (Rice) May, Sr., and was a life resident of the Sandyville and Magnolia area. Don was a 1957 graduate of Sandy Valley High School, where he played baseball and drums in the band. He and his son owned and operated May’s Custom Cabinets & Remodeling LLC, which he founded in 1974. Don and Dixie attended First Christian Church in New Philadelphia. He had directed church choirs for 53 years at Sandyville United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s Community Church in Mineral City. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Christine J. May. Don is survived by his wife, Dixie L. (Walsh) May, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on June 22nd; one daughter and son, Terri D. Pearson, and David P. (Susan) May; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Jeffery D. (Becky) Pearson and their children, Emma, Josie, and Rylie, Jeremy L. Pearson, Jessica D. (Cameron) Swett, David C. May and his fiancée, Kelsey Elliott, Matthew R. (Michelle) May, Rebecca (Kane) Smith and their son, Kace, Megan Edwards and her daughter, Lily, Gina Edwards and Ashley Edwards; and his brother, George May, Jr. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in First Christian Church of New Philadelphia with Rev. James Borton officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends may call Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church before the service.
