David T. Mitchell

Age 88, of North Canton, died peacefully Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center.  He was born August 21, 1928 in Akron, a son of the late Clem and Mary (Willis) Mitchell, and was a Canton resident most of his life.  David was a 1946 graduate of Lehman High School, and after two years in the Army, was a 1952 graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  He retired in 1987 from Prescott, Ball & Turben after 30 years service, as a stock broker and Vice President.  David was a long-time member and leader of Trinity United Church of Christ, a 50 year member of Canton Lodge #60, F. & A.M., also a member of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, Canton Rotary Club, and was a dedicated volunteer to many other organizations.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was recently selected to travel to Washington, DC on the Honor Flight.  David and Doris were fortunate to enjoy traveling, card clubs, golf and gardening together.  Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Marty Koehlein, Marnie Mitchell, and Jack Mitchell.  David will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and a kind and generous friend to many.  He is survived by his wife, Doris (Rose) Mitchell, with whom he celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 16, 2016; three daughters, Debby Bellamy, Diane Killinger, and Denise (Brian) Fink, six grandchildren, Courtney Bellamy, Jessica Bellamy, Mitchell Killinger, Abby Killinger, Brandon and Tyler Fink, and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Carson, and Mila Butusov;  also a brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.  Services will be held Sat. at 3 p.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Andrew Taylor Peck officiating.  Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday 5-7 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home.  Masonic Services will be held at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  David’s family would like to thank all of the angels who work at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center for the amazing care that our entire family received.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708, or Honor Flight Columbus, PO Box12036, Columbus, OH  43212, or www.honorflightcolumbus.org/donate.
