Carol M. Lindesmith
Age 82, of Canton, joined the choir of the Lord on Wed., March 21, 2018. She was born Nov. 23, 1935 in Canton, a daughter of the late Russell and May (Smith) Lewers, and was a life resident. Carol was a 1953 graduate of Timken High School and attended Otterbein College. She had been an active member of the former St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, teaching a Sunday School class over 40 years. Carol also was active in the District and Conference levels of the United Methodist Church, including Lay Leader of the Canton District, United Methodist Women and was Past President of Unit and District of the United Methodist Women, and many other offices. She was a life member of Worley P.T. A., and Edgefield A.A.R.P., Chapter 2267. Carol and Jim now have been members of Crossroads United Methodist Church for several years. She has been one of God’s Good and Faithful servants her entire life. Family, Faith, and Love filled her life each and every day. Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Leigh Lewers and Myra (Lewers) Schoonover. She is survived by her husband, Jim Lindesmith, her devoted and most important partner in life, with whom she would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on April 1st; her favorite daughter, Diane (Bob) Hawk and three sons, Jim (Carolyn) Lindesmith, John (Patti) Lindesmith, and Jeff (Karla) Lindesmith. The true blessings of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandson. She lived each and every day thinking and praying for them, Jimmy (Ashlee) and their son James, Jason (Korey), Jordan (Lauren), John, Hannah, Ryan, Beau, Zach, Preston, Haley, Cooper, and LeAnne; grandma attended more sporting events than you can ever imagine, and she cherished every inning, quarter, basket, hit and victory. Also survived by two sisters and one brother, Roberta Rosenbery, Susan Beard, and William Lewers. Services will be held Sat. at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Fashbaugh officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call
